Harmonic vs Affinity for venture capital
Reviewed
Short answer: They do different jobs. Harmonic finds companies and founders; Affinity tracks your firm's relationships and deal pipeline. Harmonic integrates with Affinity, so a fund that wants both runs them together. If you can buy one, buy the CRM first.
Harmonic calls itself the complete startup database: company and people data with alerts and an AI agent, Scout, for finding deals early. Affinity is a CRM built for private capital that captures email and calendar activity automatically and scores relationships. Harmonic's own help centre documents an Affinity integration, which says most about how the two are meant to fit.
Verdict
Affinity keeps the Relationship Intelligence slot in our Investor Stack. Harmonic isn't a CRM and doesn't replace one: its own Affinity integration pushes companies into Affinity lists and reads Affinity fields back. Add Harmonic when sourcing, not relationship tracking, is the bottleneck and the fund can pay for a second data tool. Harmonic doesn't publish prices, so ask for them before you commit.

Are Harmonic and Affinity competitors?
Mostly not. Harmonic is a source of companies you don't know yet: it tracks startups and the people behind them and alerts you when, for example, a founder leaves a company or a company meets your thesis. Affinity is a record of companies and people you already deal with, built from your team's own email and calendar.
They overlap at the edges. Harmonic lists network mapping, showing how your team is connected to a company, and lets you manage top-of-funnel lists with custom fields. Affinity's Advanced plan adds Dealroom and Crunchbase enrichment. Neither edge replaces the other's core.
How Harmonic works with Affinity
Harmonic's help centre documents an Affinity integration. An admin connects it with an Affinity API key, chooses which lists and fields to sync, and picks a cadence: instant syncs use webhooks, and Harmonic notes that Affinity limits users to 3 webhooks; hourly, daily, or weekly syncs use more API calls.
Once connected, you can add a company to an Affinity list from Harmonic in one click and filter Harmonic's data by Affinity lists and fields. Synced Affinity fields are read-only in Harmonic: edits are made in Affinity.
What it costs
Affinity publishes its prices: Essential is $2,000 per user per year, so $10,000 a year for a five-person investment team. Scale and Advanced are $2,300 and $2,700; Enterprise is custom.
Harmonic publishes no prices. Its console, API, and bulk-data plans all lead to a "Get pricing" form, and CRM sync is listed as an add-on. Budget for it as a second subscription, not a replacement for the CRM.
When to add Harmonic
Affinity holds our relationship slot. Add Harmonic when:
- Deal flow is thin and the fund needs to find companies before they raise, not just track the ones it already knows.
- Your thesis depends on spotting founders early, such as people leaving a specific company to start something in stealth.
- You want startup data in your own systems through an API or a warehouse feed.
