Why DocSend holds the slot

Once a deck or LP memo is an email attachment, you can't take it back. A DocSend link you can: access can be revoked on every plan, and page-by-page analytics show who opened it and how long they spent on each page.

Passwords, expiry dates, and download controls are on every plan too. DocSend is part of Dropbox and covered by its SOC 2 Type 2 report.

What it costs

Billed yearly, Personal is $10 per user per month and Standard $45 per user per month, adding unlimited data rooms (200 assets per room) and a branded subdomain. Advanced is $150 a month with 3 users, and Advanced Data Rooms $180 a month with 3 users. Billed monthly, the four plans are $15, $65, $250, and $300.

After the 14-day trial, an account drops to a limited trial: 10 links, 5 documents, two visits viewable per document, and a DocSend signup page added to the end of each document.

Seed to Series B portfolio companies of DocSend's partner VCs and accelerators can get up to 90% off for a year.

Where DocSend falls short

DocSend's weak points are its free tier and the price of its strictest controls:

What would cost DocSend the slot

Papermark is the closest challenger: cheaper for NDA-gated data rooms and with a free plan that does real work. DocSend keeps the slot because Personal, at $10, covers what most investors and founders need. If analytics or revocation moved off Personal, we would reopen the slot.
