Visible for VC funds: why it's our portfolio monitoring pick
Investor Stack · Slot 03 of 5 · Portfolio Monitoring · Reviewed
Short answer: Visible, for funds that want portfolio KPIs collected on a schedule instead of chased by email. Founders can send updates on a free plan; investor pricing is custom, based on portfolio size and team.
Stop chasing portfolio companies for metrics over email. Collect updates and KPIs in one place and track the portfolio from the same data.

Why Visible holds the slot
Chasing portfolio companies for numbers by email doesn't scale. Visible sends recurring and one-time data requests with automated reminders, turns the answers into structured metrics, and calculates fund metrics such as IRR, MOIC, and TVPI from the same data.
Founders aren't asked to pay to report: Visible's Starter plan for founders is free and sends updates to up to 100 investors. On the fund side, Visible lists integrations with Google Sheets, Airtable, and Affinity, our CRM pick.
What it costs a fund
All three investor plans, Essential, Premium, and Enterprise, are custom-priced based on portfolio size and team, through a demo request. We don't quote a number.
Essential covers recurring and one-time requests, custom metrics, Google Sheets and Airtable integrations, dashboards, fund metrics, tear sheets, a data room, and LP reports. Premium adds AI Inbox, which pulls metrics out of founders' emails and files, audit logs, metric alerts, benchmark dashboards, API access, and an MCP server. Enterprise adds SSO, approval workflows, and granular user permissions.
Where Visible falls short
Visible's weak points are price transparency and where its automation starts:
- No published investor prices, which counts against it under our published-pricing criterion.
- API access and the MCP server start on Premium; on Essential, data leaves through Google Sheets and Airtable.
- No keyboard shortcuts are documented.
What would cost Visible the slot
Visible took the slot when Tactyc left the stack (see the eviction record below). If founders were asked to pay to report, or spreadsheet exports moved off Essential, we would reopen the slot. A portfolio monitoring tool with published pricing and an equally easy founder side would get a hearing.
How Visible got the slot
-
· Evicted Tactyc
Carta acquired Tactyc in October 2024 and now sells it as Carta Fund Forecasting, reachable only through a Carta demo request, with no standalone signup or public pricing. tactyc.com no longer points to the product. With Carta Fund Administration already in the stack, a separate forecasting slot would duplicate one vendor; Visible covers portfolio monitoring instead.
Facts are checked against each vendor's own pages, listed below; the slot decision is our opinion. Prices change, so confirm on the vendor's site. How slots are won and lost is in the methodology; see also disclosures.
